While floral print is certainly nothing new to menswear, in the past, it was typically only seen in ties, pocket squares and bathing suits. To be honest, I’ve never really been a huge fan of floral print in shirts. Hawaiian shirts made me think of a cliché tourist on vacation in Honolulu.
This spring/summer however, floral prints have been on the daring edge of style. Maui made it’s way to Milan as everyone from Gucci to Prada to Givenchy, seemed to center their spring/summer menswear collections around floral prints.
With more fitted cuts and darker prints, florals have been making a splash in a more striking way than ever. The shirt I’m wearing is by Vintage Red. I like the fact that it’s fairly simplistic in terms of the amount of colors – sticking to blue, black, and white. It’s also extremely light weight, perfect for these warm summer days! I paired it with April 77 jeans, Prada oxfords, and blocked the sun with folding Persols - for a more retro look.
