Growing up in the south gave me a deep appreciation for preppy attire. Polos, khakis, and driving shoes were what I grew up wearing. When I moved to Los Angeles eight years ago, it certainly had an influence on my personal style. When occasion arises however -- I never miss an opportunity to break out the East Coast country club gear.
At first glance the oxford I’m wearing might look like a standard blue and white stripped button down. On a closer look, you can see there’s a subtle edge with skull and crossbones stitched. This shirt is from the specialty line – Descendants of Thieves by Dres Ladro.
This line is unique and extremely limited edition. An average of 385 and no more than 400 units per style are made. The care label contains the number produced. All of their shirts are constructed with high quality Japanese fabrics and manufactured in in a small sample room, not a high output production line. Each shirt contains distinctive detailing from hidden pockets to messages stitched into the fabric.
I paired this shirt with Polo by Ralph Lauren khaki shorts, Tod’s driving moccasins, and classic Steve McQueen folding Persols. Keeping close to more preppy clothing is traditional, but paring with an edgy West Coast style can never go wrong.
