In the past year, the stretch of La Brea nestled between Beverly and 3rd, has grown increasingly hip. From Sycamore Kitchen to Republique, some of the cities hottest culinary destinations have been popping up in Hancock Park. Back in January LA’s latest sushi craze – Sugarfish by Sushi Nazowa – even secured real estate on the corner of La Brea and 1st. Naturally, with the hip crowd being drawn to the area’s coffee houses, restaurants, and galleries – retail spaces have also been on the rise.
The newest retailer to set up shop in the neighborhood is Connecticut’s very own- GANT. The classic East Coast label has opened their doors at 101 S La Brea Ave – in the center of the newly deemed gypset capital.
Last week I had the opportunity to attend the opening of GANT’s new store and loved what I saw. The collegiate-cool brand’s 1,100-square-foot space could not be more in keeping with their heritage. Exposed ceilings and reclaimed gym floors provide the perfect presentation for the label’s signature lines: GANT Rugger and GANT by Michael Bastian.
If you’re in the market for a great summer polo, oxford, or the perfect plaid - stop by and check it out. They also have a great selection of chinos, shorts, and accessories. And for all the ladies - they will be carrying their women's line come Fall. East Coast prep has arrived just in time for summer, and is here to stay LA!
