PAINTING THE ARTS DISTRICT - RED

One of the best parts of living in a city like Los Angeles, is the ability to explore the distinctive neighborhoods within.  Like many cities in the US, from year to year new areas develop and emerge as modish.

For this shoot we headed down to the Arts District.  East of Downtown Los Angeles and west of the LA River, it is constituted of previously abandoned industrial buildings.  A warehouse wasteland type feel.  Over the past year however, the Arts District has flourished into one of the most happening neighborhoods.

Filled with some of the LA’s most acclaimed Italian restaurants - like Ori Menashe’s Bestia and Angelo Auriana’s The Factory Kitchen - Charming cafes like John Secretan’s Zinc -and hip coffee shops like Portland based Stumptown Coffee Roasters – The Arts District is arguably the biggest foodie mecca in all of Los Angeles.

The vibe can feel slightly trendy but also vibrant and colorful to the artistic eye.  The third weekend of each month the neighborhood hosts Artist & Fleas – the Brooklyn based craft market - where you can spend hours uncovering art and handcrafted goods.

Thus far this spring has been off to an amazing start!  The weather has warmer, the days have been longer and winter wardrobe layers have put away until fall.  When spring hits – I’m big on breaking out brighter more colorful pieces from my closet - like this bubble print shirt from Topman.

I love a great pair of dapper shoes, and these derbies by Christian Louboutin certainly fit the bill!  The multiple colors put a fun spin on a classic shoe style.

I paired them with cream tapered jeans from Rustic Dime and Sama sunglasses for a casual yet on-duty look.  Ready to paint the Arts District red!

If you find yourself in Los Angeles be sure and check out the neighborhood!
