Over the past year or so, I’ve noticed a real renaissance occurring in Los Angeles. While this city is predominantly accredited for the entertainment industry, different forms of talent are being showcased. Los Angeles is no longer solely being spotlighted for Hollywood. It’s being recognized for creativity in different fields – including artists, designers and culinary masters.
While street art is certainly not a new concept to LA, it’s more visible than ever. Vanity Fair and Cadillac partnered with MOCA to present the West Hollywood Library Murals. This particular mural is by an artist named RETNA, known for his large installations and graffiti masterpieces.
When you are surrounded by such an artistic culture – it’s easy to become accustomed to laid- back dress codes. However, when the occasion arises, LA still creates the ideal backdrop for a dressier look. For a dapper summer outfit, keep it clean and simple – a solid button down, dress pants and oxfords - without socks. I’m wearing Theory trousers, Margiela’s basic dress shirt, and Prada lace-ups.
