Earlier this week we made the excursion to Sin City to attend Project and Liberty Fairs. When I say “excursion,” it truly felt like an excursion – given the 113 degree temperature on the first day. While you could spend weeks wandering the endless sea of pop-up showrooms, we did our best to spot emerging trends for Spring/Summer 2016.
The first of which – prints are huge! We saw prints making a splash in a big way and across numerous collections. Everything from cameo, to flamingos, to skull and crossbones – printed on clothes, shoes and accessories – and we’re not opposed to it.
Even the backpacker of the moment – Herschel Supply Co. – who have traditionally stuck to solid color combination backpacks, are introducing prints into their collection.
Leaf prints and bright colors made a big appearance in 2016. Patterns and tropical textures were at the Algae Miami booth at Liberty. Algae, an emerging surfer lifestyle brand, translates Floridian kitsch into the mainstream by collaborating with Miami based artists to create limited edition prints.
We loved the banana leaf lined chair at the Algae Miami booth at Liberty!
Other designs – this leafy short sleeve button down by NoLa based Haspel Clothing - the originator of seersucker – shown at the entrance to the Tents.
As far as jackets go – bombers are here to stay in 2016 - in addition to lighter jean jackets – like this one from 7 For All Mankind.
In denim, it’s all about durability and destruction! Most impressive was 7 For All Mankind’s new Foolproof line. Their new line is created with fabric that has zero growth when you wear it and zero shrinkage when you wash it - no matter how often it’s worn or how it is washed. It’s completely high performance and stable – perfect for many of us guys who might not be the best at laundry – foolproof!
After a long few days in the desert it was time to head out head out!
But overall, the shows were very exciting and we’re fully looking forward to the trends of Spring/Summer 2016.
